(The view from a balcony at the house where we stayed. There's a tiny chapel to Prophet Elijah at the tippy top of that mountain)

We're back in the States after three weeks of travel goodness, and I hope you don't mind me sharing a bit of it here. I didn’t bring my big camera—too many moving parts with children and luggage—I was afraid of breaking it, so please excuse my sometimes awful phone pictures.
We spent our first week near
Nafplio at
T’s godparents’ house. Funny how we struggle to connect in the US, where only a five hour drive separates us. Our koumbaroi were exceptional hosts, as always. They greeted us with dinner in their cool and breezy garden the night we arrived (above). The kids loved the beach at
Tolo, where the crowds of bathers shouted and played. I preferred
Karathonas, which was a little farther and quieter. The boys spent hours snorkeling in the deeper water, and Little M found some Greek friends to play with. We ate delicious traditional food, often by the water, in the cooler evening breezes. We've been to Nafplio before, and our time there was a lovely introduction to Greece, and a gentle way to adjust to the time zone, for our youngest children.
Big M made the trip up to Nafplio to see us for a couple of days before he went back to work. He's so tan I didn't recognize him! He went with us on several outings, which I'll share in the next post.
